A Digital Intelligence Life Raft for Legal Investigators Drowning in Data Overload
Join us at LegalTech February 4th-6th at Midtown Hilton Hotel in NYC – booth #216 in the Rhinelander Hall
American Lawyer Media’s annual conference, Legalweek, brings thousands of legal professionals and companies together each year to dive deep into everything related to the legal business and the latest legal technologies. The week is comprised of three conferences that run in-parallel: Legaltech, LegalCIO and Legal Business Strategy. From more than 36 countries, legal and corporate leaders gather to explore the use of technology in the business of law, including Cellebrite’s Business Solutions team.
“Accessing and analyzing information from mobile devices, computers and laptops is the cornerstone of any modern legal investigation.” – Mark Gambill – Chief Marketing Officer at Cellebrite
Legal professionals and technologists, corporate investigators, and service providers are inundated with the variety of networks, devices, and the sheer amount of data that needs to be monitored, extracted, decoded and put in a readable format with verified authenticity on a case per case basis.
Particularly, the vast amounts of mobile digital data produced are becoming increasingly relevant in investigations, relating to intellectual property theft, fraud, bribery, sexual harassment, discrimination, executive misconduct and more.
Accessing and analyzing information from mobile devices, computers and laptops is the cornerstone of any modern legal investigation. Yet for many, the process of finding the right data is very time consuming and costly when trying to get to the bottom of each case as quickly as possible.
This creates a vital need to leverage a solution that saves valuable time in the unlock and extraction process, eliminating the “data dump” of unnecessary data and developing an in-house end-to-end solution to streamline the entire process of managing mobile and computer digital data business internally.
That’s why this week, Cellebrite Business Solutions will be at LegalTech to discuss all things regarding eDiscovery and corporate investigations with the legal community. Be sure to visit us at booth #216 in Rhinelander Hall at the event.
“Bringing data collections in-house will reduce the time that custodians are separated from their mobile devices during investigations and shorten review times, thereby helping to build custodian trust.” – Mark Gambill – Chief Marketing Officer at Cellebrite
Increasing process and profitability with in-house data collection
Cellebrite provides legal professionals and corporate investigators with better ways of collecting, processing, integrating, and managing customer needs to increase process efficiencies and drive greater profitability.
Bringing data collections in-house will reduce the time that custodians are separated from their mobile devices during investigations and shorten review times, thereby helping to build custodian trust. In-house device collection and data processing also helps service providers become more competitive by minimizing costs through a reduction of billable hours.
Cellebrite delivers an extensive suite of innovative software solutions and analytic tools designed to accelerate digital investigations and address the growing complexity of handling employee misconduct and security challenges in the digital era.
Legalview: legal pros best friend
Legal professionals need access to all data sources pertinent to a case, including data from mobile devices, such as text messages and photos. One of the main challenges is keeping up with the latest technology enhancements of iOS and Android devices.
Furthermore, until now, professionals spend hours converting data into a format that then needs to be entered into a review platform. Cellebrite Legalview, a new offering from Cellebrite and Relativity’s partnership, provides legal professionals, corporate investigators and service providers a seamless integration of eDiscovery systems for all their mobile forensics needs.
With Legalview, legal professionals now have a first-of-its-kind tool to quickly upload mobile data during a review, saving them time and money. This new solution makes getting and understanding data from mobile devices for eDiscovery much easier and cost-effective.
By integrating data from Cellebrite’s mobile data extraction and decoding solutions, Cellebrite Universal Forensic Extraction Device (UFED) and Cellebrite Physical Analyzer (PA), with Relativity’s best-in-class eDiscovery review platform, organizations can now quickly see and analyze data from mobile devices. This new solution makes it easier and faster to input mobile device data into a review platform so you can analyze and redact information as part of civil litigation.
Additionally, customers that leverage Legalview will have access to ongoing updates to ensure compatibility with the latest iOS and Android advancements. Legalview automatically converts this mobile data to a format that is supported by Relativity’s eDiscovery platform. Legalview is also the first available solution that supports Relativity’s new mobile data format, which can be processed directly into RelativityOne.
Extending the reach of our offerings with BlackBag
Cellebrite’s recent acquisition of BlackBag Technologies is significant for corporate investigators and service providers as it adds a key building block to Cellebrite’s portfolio. By acquiring BlackBag, Cellebrite can now support computer forensic acquisition and analysis solutions in addition to existing mobile and cloud sources for businesses.
Most legal and corporate investigations involve both phones and laptops. Today, there are over 5 billion mobile devices and 1.5 billion computers being used across the globe and this number is climbing. We can now more realistically reflect the way investigations are conducted with a holistic approach to digital intelligence on one integrated platform.
This enables us to offer the industry’s most complete coverage of digital data collection tools and sources, such as mobile devices, computers, cloud data, and call data records and review capabilities that generate a complete intelligence snapshot.
It also means offering a broad array of field acquisition capabilities. This includes consent-based evidence collection along with an integrated solution set that provides access, insight and evidence management to facilitate and control large-scale deployments and orchestrate the entire digital intelligence operation in one comprehensive platform.
Checkm8: A new eDiscovery access point
Recently, researchers uncovered a flaw in numerous iOS chipsets, which has now been termed, “checkm8”, and it serves as a truly impactful iOS forensic breakthrough for corporate investigators and examiners. This powerful access point, which can be utilized to gain maximum privileges on a running iOS device, applies to iPhone models ranging from iPhone4S through to iPhone X models, and it occurs in some 85 percent of all active iPhones today. Checkm8 can also be used for iPads and Apple TVs.
Most importantly, checkm8, when leveraged using Cellebrite UFED is forensically sound and doesn’t require any file system modifications or a jailbreak (like checkra1n) – meaning no permanent changes to devices accessed by consent since our exploit runs in memory. The checkm8 exploit has been incorporated into Cellebrite UFED starting in version 7.28.
